With recent and rapidly increasing school violence, concern about the social-emotional competence and character development of our children is heightened. Every child deserves the opportunity to choose to develop their character based on common, time-honored values and to become a person driven by character.
One of the most important responsibilities we have as parents, teachers, and adults, is to educate the conscience and character of a child. In our homes and in our schools, we need to teach our children to read, write and count, AND how to think and develop reliable standards and morals.
There are many non-controversial ethical, moral, and character truths: it is wrong to mistreat a child, to lie, to steal, and to break promises. On the positive side, it is right to be respectful and considerate; to be responsible, loving, and caring. Significant adults in the lives of children must take responsibility for providing young people with "moral common sense."
School districts, teachers, parents, churches and business leaders, both nationally and internationally, have affirmed the necessity of educating the conscience and character of our children. In the face of huge cultural shifts, we must serve our children and our society by developing deliberate strategies for instilling character into the lives and hearts of our children. It is simply the right thing to do.
To assist you, The Institute for Kids Interactive Development has produced a significant program that will enhance your mission. Whether in the home or the classroom, “I Am... All About Me!” will help educate the conscience and character of the children you serve. Our hope is that you will visit the rest of our site, and learn how our program will strengthen your pursuit of educating the conscience and character of today's child! You will be inspired by the passion and vision of our founder and president Ann Rousseau.
Kids Interactive Development exists to provide dynamic training and resources for teachers, parents, and other significant adults in order to significantly impact the character of children locally, nationally, and internationally. Remember, academic excellence alone does not guarantee success.
We appreciate your concern for the conscience and character of today's child!
