As a child, did you ever want to rebel against your parent’s values just because they were just that, their values? All too often children are expected “to be” and “to do” what they have not yet learned or owned. Equally as frustrating, for them, is that they are expected to read our minds or to understand our meaning when they don’t understand the words being used.

I Am...All About Me! was created so children can learn, first hand, who they are and who they are capable of becoming. Through the use of ‘mind prompt’ pictures, sayings, poems, affirmations, songs and interactive activities, learning to become “the Me I am meant to be” is fun and easy for them to understand. They learn to be a partner in the process of becoming a respectful, appropriate, safe, considerate, accepting and loving citizen. It is their choice because it is part of who they believe they are.

When adults participate in the lessons of I Am...All About Me! they are able to share a common vocabulary with their children or students. That serves to enhance communication and reduce frustration for both adult and child. The lesson’s message comes from an objective source, Miss Ann, which allows for more objective discussions. No longer is it the subjective, corrective parent or teacher speaking. Parents have commented that their children repeat what Miss Ann has to say as gospel. Of course, it is the same thing the parents have been saying all along, but it seemed to land on deaf ears! In the field of sales and marketing this is referred to as the ‘third party close’.

Self esteem and character development are primary concerns and goals for most parents and teachers. Yet, where have we received our degree in these all important subjects? From our parents and teachers? From our friends and associates? From the movies and television shows we watch? If you are like me, you didn’t even realize that they were traits you could learn. I believed that they just were! You either had them or you didn’t. Some how they would be passed onto my children and my students.

Fortunately, I was exposed to the area of personal development. At the age of forty I began to learn that I could create ‘the me I am meant to be!’ I could let go of beliefs that didn’t serve me and create ones that did! Understanding the power and importance of that ability and gift lead me to make that same knowledge and process available to children. Why should they have to wait until they were in their forties to learn to be the architect of their self-image and character?

So I Am...All About Me! was born. It continues to evolve. The addition of the lessons on video, takes the program to a new plateau. Adults can learn right along with children. They become partners in the process of learning how to internalize and personalize the principles which are at the foundation of a healthy sense of self. That alone can serve to make relationships more effective and successful.

The goal of The Institute for Kids Interactive Development and its Foundation is to connect educators, children and their families through the application of the Tools of The Treasure thus creating a society that is considerate, accepting and loving. We look forward to you joining us!
